2019 ICNC Underway at Casey Stadium

The first night of the 2019 Indoor Cricket National Championships got off to a bang with the opening round of the Open Men’s division starting proceedings at Casey Stadium, Cranbourne.

 

Vic 89 (2 skins) - 77 (2 skins) WA

Player of the match: 11 Bradley Jones (Vic)

 

On Court One, Victoria accounted for Western Australia thanks to a 35 run partnership from Jarrod Armitage (19) and Bradley Jones (16). Callum Wiggers was the best with the ball for the West Aussies, taking 2/3 at an economy of 1.5 off his two overs, whilst Willie Brink (26) and Aaron Todd (17) who scored 43, were the best with bat in hand for WA. BBL player Clive Rose took 2/0 for the Victorians, but it was Bradley Jones who carried his batting form into the bowling innings, taking 3/-2 to steer his side home.

 

Qld 85 (4 skins) - 60 (0 skins) NSW

Player of the match: 11 Josh Dreaver (Qld)

 

Over on Court 3 Queensland defeated New South Wales, four skins to zero, with a Chris Boyce (18) and Jamie Stuart (17) partnership of 35 the catalyst for the Thunder’s success. New South Wales got off to a strong start thanks to a 27 run partnership from Ashley Paddison and Daniel Hardaker, before a -2 run start to the second pairing led to the Blues demise. Josh Dreaver was the pick of the bowlers for Queensland with 2/-3, whilst Jamie Stuart also took two wickets, with figures of 2/4.

 

   

 

 

ACT 92 (3 skins) - 78 (1 skin) SA

Player of the match: 27 Jamie Diener (SA)

 

In the final match of the opening round, the ACT defeated South Australia despite a 44 run stand between Daniel McKay (18) and Jamie Diener (26). Batting first, the South Australians were off to a strong start thanks to the McKay/Diener partnership, but the following three pairs only managed 34 runs to post a total of 78. Vinesh Bennett was the best with the ball for the ACT taking 2/-3. With bat in hand the Territorians scored 92, a 28 run partnership from Matthew Floros (16) and Brock Winkler (12) enough to get their side over the line.
